Millcreek
Millcreek is a suburban area located between Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake City and is by far the most populous unincorporated area in Salt Lake County and would be the 5th largest city if incorporated. This area has easy access to freeways and other neighborhoods throughout Salt Lake City. Millcreek has an outstanding mix of local independent shops and restaurants and the convenience of larger corporate stores. Millcreek Canyon is a dog friendly canyon and offers many miles of wooded trail systems and incredible mountain biking as well. Millcreek borders Sugar House and is within 10 minutes of downtown Salt Lake. Housing in Millcreek starts in the low $100’s with a condominiums, the average priced detached single family home in Millcreek is in the low $200’s and move up quickly from there as you move from west to east.
Millcreek Canyon-A canyon on Salt Lake's East side. There are great hiking trails ranging from beginner to the tough mudder. There are lots of great picnic areas for family gatherings as well. Millcreek canyon permits dogs on leash on even days and off-leash on odd days and is one of just a couple canyons with access from Salt Lake County to allow dogs as it is not a watershed area. Millcreek canyon also offers a nice array of mtn biking trails. There is also a small fee to go up the canyon but it is beautiful and definitely worth it. The humans and dogs alike love it.
Tanner Dog Park –Okay, not just a dog park but also a great place to take a walk in a natural environment in the city. It boasts nearly 80 acres of natural landscape including the Millcreek river, a BMX biking area, and a lot of off leash acreage to run your mutt and enjoy the company of many grateful pet owners.
Canyon Rim Park- is located in an east bench neighborhood. The park boasts a 650 seat amphitheater with a round step stage, four dirt and sand horseshoe courts, two pavilions, seven picnic tables with BBQ stands, two playgrounds with metal and plastic play sets, a regulation slow-pitch softball field, two lighted cement tennis courts, and two regulation sand volleyball courts
